Brief Biography Ina May Gaskin has practiced midwifery for 40 years at the internationally lauded Farm Midwifery Center and is the author of many books, most recently Birth Matters: A Midwife's Manifesta. Jennifer Block writes about women and health. Her first book, Pushed: The Painful Truth About Childbirth and Modern Maternity Care, was selected as a "Best Book of 2007" by Kirkus Reviews.
