This Halloween, have fun while you help your community! In honor of Domestic Violence Awareness Month this October, Hand to Hand Kajukenbo Self Defense Center presents our first ever Come As Your Hero Bingo Bash & Silent Auction! The event will take place on Sunday, October 30th from 3:00pm to 7:00pm at the Humanist Hall, 390 27th Street in Oakland. Admission is $25 - $12 sliding scale. Bingo cards are included in the entrance fee, and more will be available at the event. Come in costume to receive an extra bingo card for free!
Hand to Hand invites you to get retro and clever, dress up, and join us for bingo prizes, costume prizes, snacks, and fabulous auction items. Children are welcome to join the festivities. Proceeds from the event will benefit Hand to Hand's self defense classes and other programs, as well as Building Futures with Women and Children. Both organizations are 501(c)(3) non-profits. Build community with us as we honor Domestic Violence Awareness Month and work together to increase the peace.
Tickets are available online or at the door on the day of the event.
Founded by the late Professor Coleen Gragen, Hand to Hand Kajukenbo Self Defense Center has grown into an important fixture in the Bay Area. Hand to Hand provides traditional martial arts training and self defense classes and is one of the largest women-led schools on the West Coast. Our mission is to empower and positively transform individuals and communities to create a peaceful and just society through martial arts and self defense. Through practical skills and strategy, form and flow, we support peace and health for all people. For more information about classes offered at Hand to Hand, located at 5680 San Pablo Avenue in Oakland, call 510.428.0502 or visit www.handtohandkajukenbo.com.
Hand to Hand is pleased to share proceeds from this event with Building Futures with Women and Children, an inspiring organization whose mission is to build communities with underserved women and children where they are safely and supportively housed, and free from homelessness and domestic violence. In addition to a shelter, they host a crisis hotline, support groups, and other domestic violence services. For more information, check out www.bfwc.org.
We look forward to seeing you (or shall we say your hero?) at an afternoon of fun and fundraising!
