TABLAO FLAMENCO - August 14, 2015
Queens, NY-based AMERICAN BOLERO DANCE COMPANY will present the second and last installment of its Summer 2015 "TABLAO FLAMENCO" series again at The Chian Federation in Astoria, NY - 8:30 PM on Friday, August 14th.
Created by Company Founder and Artistic Director, Gabriela Granados, Tablao Flamenco is an ongoing series of monthly showcases that features live Flamenco and other kinds of Spanish dance and music performed by some of the finest talent from New York City and abroad. Presented like a cabaret, where guests can order and enjoy food and drinks during the show, Tablao Flamenco re-creates the experience of being in one of Spain's flamenco nightclubs (or 'tablaos') but for the NYC audience.
Since it premiered in November 2008, Tablao Flamenco has established itself as one of the borough's most unique cultural fixtures, and garnered recognition and praise from both audience members and the media. The series has been hailed as a "dazzling spectacle", "incredibly intense", and "artfully performed", and its world-class dancers, singers and musicians described as "impressive", with "outstanding skill".
This month's show and its stellar cast are no exception. It includes dancers GABRIELA GRANADOS, ISABEL DEL DÍA, PALOMA RÍOS, and ALICE BLUMENFELD, singers BARBARA MARTÍNEZ and AURORA REYES, flamenco guitarists BASILIO GEORGES and CRISTIAN PUIG, Spanish classical guitarist PAUL JARED NEWMAN, and the BALLET ESPAÑOL de GABRIELA GRANADOS.
