SCMS Presents Stylus Phantasticus
Hear what makes the "stylus-phantasticus" music of the seventeenth century so fantastic! The music of Buxtehude, Biber, Schmelzer, and their colleagues in Germany and Austria combines the best of Italian daring and virtuosity with German genius for harmonic and fugal composition. The results are Baroque music at its most free and unrestrained. With Alan Austin and Anna Griffis, violins and James Brown, viola da gamba.
