Tuesday Sunset Paddles (For Bartram's Garden Members)
This 60 - 80 minute paddle begins at Bartram's Garden Community Boathouse, located at the base of the meadow. We paddle to Center City and back on this quiet, tidal stretch of the Schuylkill River. The trip will be lead by boathouse volunteers and we provide kayaks (single or tandem), paddles, life jackets, headlamps and very basic instruction. All ages are welcome. We can accommodate young children, however all children under 11 must be accompanied by an adult in a kayak. Kayaking experience is not necessary - but expect moderate physical exertion.
During late September and October expect to be paddling after sunset and in the darkness of the early evening.
Wear clothes that will keep you warm even if they get wet. Avoid cotton, wool and synthetic materials are best. Also bring water, there is no drinking water at the site.
Please arrive on time. We push off promptly at 6:40pm.
