The Art of Dance
concert:nova  The Art of Dance
Wednesday, July 6  7:30pm
Cincinnati Art Museum  Alice Bimel Courtyard

Sponsored by YELP!

Set in the Art Museum's Alice Bimel Courtyard, the glorious Appalachian Spring by Aaron Copland and mystical Cave of the Heart by Samuel Barber come alive in their original versions. Commissioned by trailblazing choreographer Martha Graham in the 1940's, these works take on new life with new choreography by Heather Britt and dancers from the Cincinnati Ballet. The beloved American classics will be performed by concert:nova musicians and led by conductor Edwin Outwater..

Heather Britt, a Cincinnati native in great demand as a performer and choreographer, owns and runs the wildly popular Rhythm and Motion Cincinnati. Faculty member at NKU, and a teacher/choreographer with Cincinnati Ballet and Uptown Arts, Heather was previously the Education Manager at Cincinnati Ballet and has taught dance as a form of outreach for many other local organizations including Cincinnati Arts Association, Cincinnati Art Museum, Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park and Cincinnati Public libraries.

An internationally sought-after conductor, the Washington Post describes Edwin Outwater as having "a lyric sensibility and a gift for blending high drama with subtle, convincing emotion." He is currently music director of the Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony in Ontario, Canada and has previously served as resident conductor of the San Francisco Symphony. Visit his websitewww.edwinoutwater.com.
