Okay so THIS show is reeeeeally different. The Storyville Players are fronted by the unique stylings of the lovely Miss Sarah Rose, whom you certainly remember from her latest visit to Toronto with the Dykes Of Hazard Variety Show. Her sultry, sexy voice transports you through the sounds of "turn of the century" Americana, from the speakeasies of New York and the streets of New Orleans, to the heart of Appalachia. Not without drawing influence from the sounds and spirit of their own generation, they deliver a heaping dose of original compositions while giving a healthy nod to such greats as Tom Waits, Billie Holiday and Nina Simone. Keeping a percussive time is bassist Michael Laudico, Franco-Brazilian accordion player Jeremy Spindler adds a touch of spice and recovering classical violinist David Adamczyks off-the-wall improvisations fiddle your tender vittles. This quartets fusion of blues, country and jazz is as sweet and rosy as a dimpled debutant while embodying the salty grit of a longshoreman in the big city.
