The Effect of Gamma Rays on Man-in-the-Moon Marigolds
If buried deeply enough, can the ghosts of our past be forgotten? Or is the ugly, terrifying truth that they can only be conquered by confrontation? More importantly, is it possible for a fragile and shy seed to ever bloom after being exposed to radioactive rays?
The year is 1964. Beatrice and her two daughters, Ruth and Matilda, live in a house that was once a colorful vegetable shop, though now it is little more than a dusty, cluttered skeleton of Beatrice's long-gone childhood. A deeply wounded and embittered woman, she emotionally batters her children to smithereens while subconsciously screaming for their love. Her older daughter, Ruth, is suspended in the limbo between childhood and womanhood. Unfortunately, Beatrice is her only reference to what a woman should be. Matilda, or Tillie, has a very keen talent and interest in science. However, when she wins a prestigious award at the science fair, old demons show their faces, forcing the jealous wrath of Beatrice to be fully realized.
