NMEAC: Environmentalist of the Year Awards
Please join us as NMEAC Celebrates 31 Years as the oldest grassroots environmental organization in Northern Michigan.
On Friday, April 15, from from 6 - 9pm at Traverse City's Park Place Dome, NMEAC will host our annual "Environmentalist of the Year Celebration" and observing our 31st. anniversary.
Our Featured Speaker: Derek J. Bailey was sworn in as Tribal Chairman in December 2008, becoming the fifth chairman of the Grand Traverse Band. Over the past year, Chairman Bailey has also filled the Chairmanship for the Inter-Tribal Council of MI, Inc. and the Chippewa/Ottawa Resource Authority. In May of 2010, he received a Presidential Appointment, by President Obama, to the National Advisory Council on Indian Education.
The evening will begin at 6 pm with a reception featuring wonderful local foods.
At 7pm, the program will open with the Great Lakes Bioneers handing out the Bioneer of the Year Award. Awards will be presented to people and groups who have made extraordinary contributions to environmental advocacy and protection in our region, state and nation.
