AACE Seattle Section March 10th, 2011 Meeting
"WEB TECHNOLOGY: CENTRALIZED and COLLABORATIVE ESTIMATING"
Web Technology: Centralized & Collaborative Estimating, presented by Jared Carlson of U.S. Cost, will focus on the technology aspects and benefits of companies moving towards web-based applications for cost estimating. The presentation will highlight benefits to companies that are utilizing a central platform for this work, allowing estimators and project managers to more effectively collaborate. Jared will explain the benefits of a web-based estimating application vs. client-server, personal computer, or web-enabled applications. More and more organizations are moving to web-based solutions, and those in estimating and project controls are no exception. Web-based solutions give estimators, project managers, and owners real-time and simultaneous access to their cost data and project estimates. They also reduce the chance for error and lower IT support costs. Utilizing a centralized database yields benefits such as cross-project reporting, detailed analysis of cost estimates and resource utilization, and enterprise dashboard views.
Jared Carlson has worked 11 years for U.S. COST in many positions. Jared has also worked for Procter & Gamble, General Electric, the U.S. NAVY, the FAA, Heineken, Goodyear Tire & Rubber, and National Grid. He was educated at Georgia State University.
All are welcome, so please be sure to invite any colleagues that might be interested in learning more about web technology and estimating. You must register online to reserve a seat. AACE Seattle meets the 2nd Thursday of each month. Each section meeting with technical presentation qualifies for .25 points toward your CCC/CCE/PSP/EVP/CEP/CFCC recertification continuing education requirement.
