Opening Night Film & Entertainment (June 21, 2007)
The much anticipated opening night of the 2007 Solstice Film Festival has all the ingredients of a first-class film premier and event. Our opening film is the World Premier of Believers , a modern day psychological thriller set almost entirely in real time world. Award-winning filmmaker Daniel Myrick (creator/Director of Blair Witch Project) returns to his indie roots with the latest addition to the RAW-FEED series from Warner Home Video.
The red carpet will be rolled out in front of the historic Fitzgerald Theater where media and Opening Night attendees will line up to snap pictures of the films Director and attending stars. Also walking the red carpet will be directors and cast members from other high profile films to be screened at Solstice.
Following the screening of Believers all attendees will be entertained by local music starâs at 7th Street Promenade. Food will be available and drink will be plentiful. Following the Opening Night concerts, attendees can relocate to one of the pubs and restaurants partnered with Solstice Film Festival.
Screening Day and Future Filmmakers Event (June 22, 2007)
This year we have designed a special event focused on the young Future Filmmakers. Beginning at noon on Friday, Solstice will be hosting the Future Filmmakers event at Fitzgerald Theater. Local Boys and Girls Clubs, along with other children organizations, are invited to attend a presentation and special movie screening.
Later that evening we will screen the Midwest premier of Little Chenier: A Cajun Story from acclaimed writer/Director Bethany Ashton Wolf.
Following the premier, attendees will have the option of heading to 7th Street Promenade for outdoor live concerts and drinks, or make their way to one of the pubs or restaurants to enjoy more live music and drink specials hosted by SFF Partners.
HHR Benefit Concert/Spotlight Event (June 23, 2007)
On Saturday, June 23, Solstice Film Festival, St. Paul Jaycees and Finnegans beer will produce a benefit concert, with proceeds from the event going to aide the Heading Home Ramsey campaign. Supporters can purchase wrist bands for $5 on the Solstice Film Festival website.
Following the benefit, a special Spotlight Event will be held at Fitzgerald Theater. More info to come.
Screening Day and Closing Awards Ceremony (June 24, 2007)
The festival will come to a close with the awards ceremony and the two films that will close the 2007 event.
"Darius Goes West", is a story about Darius Weems, a 15-year-old with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, had never left his hometown of Athens, Georgia. In the summer of 2005, he traveled across the country in an RV to test accessibility in America. Their ultimate goal was to reach Los Angeles and convince MTV's hit show, "Pimp My Ride," to customize Darius's wheelchair
