August Sustainability Wins Lunch and Learn: From Aspen to Denver - Learning from Our Neighbors
There are a number of amazing sustainability programs in Colorado! The goal of the Sustainability Wins Lunch and Learn series is to spread the awareness of these great programs and organizations far and wide so others can learn and replicate that success. The City of Aspen has two specific programs that are transforming the City of Aspen to a sustainability sanctuary. Ashley Perl will wow us with the ZGreen and the Canary Initiatives, both of which she is the Director of. These two programs are to further the fight against climate chaos. High alpine mountain towns like Aspen are seeing the effects of climate change before many other places, making them the "canaries in the mineshaft" for global climate impacts, which is became the foundation of the Canary Initiative. The ZGreen Program is a certification and outreach program designed to help Aspen's businesses, events, residents, and visitors create a more sustainable community.
