James III: Junior
After a sold out performance at Akron Civic Theatre in Ohio,  James III brings his solo show back to The PIT!

JUNIOR uses stand up and sketch comedy, poetry, and Shakespeare to tell the story of a boy and his dad, the nineteen brief months they knew each other, and the years that followed. The play examines the struggles faced by a fatherless son, family, and the consequences of substance abuse.

It's what Netflix would call a ""Father/Son Emotional Drama."" Guaranteed to make you feel all the feelings.

Written and performed by James III

Directed by Rob Gioia

With special thanks to The PIT, Ali Farahnakian, Kevin Laibson, Padraic Lillis and the Play Development Workshop, Natalie Wall, Pete Staiano, Christine Liz Pynn, Wendy S. Duke, Mark A. Zimmerman, Akron Civic Theatre, and James' Mommy.

JAMES III (Performer/Writer) performs at The PIT on the improv team, Student Driver, and as co-host of the stand up open mic, Hump Day! His credits include NBC's Late Night With Seth Meyers and Law & Order: SVU, Funny Or Die, CollegeHumor, and Splitsider, and he performs on the UCB Maude Sketch House Team, MORIARTY. James works frequently with Brooklyn's Target Margin Theater and is a graduate of The Public Theater's Shakespeare Lab program.

ROB GIOIA (Director) is a theater director and educator. Born in NYC, he holds a BFA in Acting from Marymount Manhattan College, and an MA in Educational Theater from New York University. He and James III have collaborated on numerous theater projects, including their 2009 production of Hamlet (Director) with Acorn Productions. He currently teaches theater at PS 154 in Brooklyn. Sometimes, his Kindergarten students call him ""Ms. Gioia"", ""Funny Man"", or just ""Rob"" if they're feeling cheeky.
