After a move to Canada to teach and perform, renowned pianst and Sunnyside Label recording artist George Colligan returns to Jazzway 6004 to debut his newest material.

About George Colligan:
*George Colligan is a currently a Canadian based jazz pianist, organist, and composer.  He spent many years performing annd teaching in NYC  and served on the faculty of the Juilliard School of Music. He has toured, recorded , and/or performed as a sideman with Gary Bartz, Benny Golson, Gary Thomas, Dave Weckl, Steve Coleman, Eddie Henderson, Ralph Peterson, Vanessa Rubin, Steve Wilson, Richard Bona, Tom Harrell, Jane Monheit, Ravi Coltrane, Lenny White, Michael Brecker, Mike Clark, Nicholas Payton, Sheila Jordan, Miguel Zenon,Janis Siegel, Christian McBride, Billy Hart, Charles Fambrough, Mingus Big Band, Al Foster, Gunther Schuller, Mark Turner, Lee Konitz, Jamie Baum, Carl Allen,Michal Urbaniak,DJ Logic and Stefon Harris, among others. George Colligan is highly in demand as a sideman, having worked with players like Cassandra Wilson, Don Byron, Buster Williams, and Ravi Coltrane, both on the bandstand and in recording sessions (appearing on over 100 CDs). He has released 17 recordings full of his intelligent writing and impressive technique, and his musical style incorporates everything from showtunes to funk, from free improvisation to 20th century classical music. His performances include dazzling technique as well as mature restraint. His latest CD is on the Sunnyside label entitled Runaway. In addition to the more modern mainstream music of George Colligan Trio, Colligan also leads a band called Mad Science, a power funk fusion unit which features organ, synthesizer, guitar, and drums.
His always inventive performances should not be missed ...he is truly one of the rising stars of jazz piano and composition.
