Carla Chrisfield Recital
FCU's Music Ministry
Benefit Concert Sunday, October 24th, 3:00 p.m.
Soprano Carla Chrisfield will present An Afternoon of Song at FCU to benefit FCU's Music Ministry. Carla grew up in Littleton and FCU. She holds fond memories of the weekly children's choir rehearsals under Polly Oliver's direction, which were the highlight of her week as a child. From 1980-1984 she was a regular member of the FCU adult choir, and participated in performances of Britten's Ceremony of Carols and Handel's Messiah, among many others.
Carla studied music at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, the Cleveland Institute of Music and attended the Britten-Pears School for Advanced Musical Studies in Aldeburgh, England. She went on to study privately with the distinguished Dutch soprano Elly Ameling and made her European recital debut in Amsterdam in 2000.
Carla and pianist William Merrill, one of Boston's most distinguished collaborative pianists and vocal coaches, have given more than sixty recitals to date, with programs at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, Brandeis University, the Weston Public Library, Harvard University, MIT, and at the Stadthaus in Ulm, Germany.
This program, which will include works by Schubert, Ravel, Poulenc, Satie, Copland, Ives, Barber, and Stephen Foster, was envisioned by Carla as a belated thank you to the church that nurtured her musical beginnings, and all proceeds from this event will benefit the Music Fund at FCU.
Carla has been praised for her lovely and pure soprano voice and for the conviction, warmth and sincerity of her singing. Please join us for what is sure to be a wonderful concert.
