OH BOY! A Tribute to Buddy Holly
Walt Hetfield is renowned locally in the Cape Henlopen region in Delaware as a music teacher and for his Rock and Roll Summer Camp. "I just wonder why I didn't come up with this sooner," said Hetfield. "I've been a huge fan of Buddy Holly and the Crickets since before I began playing. I bought my first Fender Stratocaster because I wanted a guitar just like Buddy's."
"Once I drove from my home in Colorado Springs, CO to Clovis, New Mexico just to see the studio where Buddy recorded most of his hits. His producer's widow showed me around the place. It was a very cool experience."
You will be awed to hear this band play note-for-note versions of Holly's music. They will also perform other rock and roll and rockabilly classics by artists that are part of Buddy's story and legacy, including Richie Valens, the Big Bopper and even Johnny Cash.
Hetfield goes in character to reprise Buddy Holly. Accompanying him in this tribute are three superb local musicians: Upright bassist and keyboardist Barry Eli, rhythm guitarist Mike Long and drummer Ken Schleifer. When Barry switches to keyboards, Mike plays bass. All of the band members sing.
You will surely agree with these music critics-
"No mere cover band, but a glimpse into the life of Buddy Holly himself." Julie Chen,Severna Park Voice
"The best tribute band I've ever seen."
Stevie Ray Wilson - noted local musician.
