Keep your wits about you! You'll need them at Pub Quiz USA's Tournament of Intrigue at 7pm on Saturday, September 18 at the Bossanova Ballroom (722 E. Burnside, Portland). Pull together your trivia team of up to six players and compete against other teams for $1000 cash and golden trophies of pride. Your player ticket includes entry into the competition plus hourly prize drawings, a souvenir pint glass, and interaction with all the entertainers within the carnival-in-a-tournament atmosphere: a beautiful and talented belly dancer, gorgeous hoop dancers, modern-day fortune tellers, an amazing fire dancer, musician & magician, and last but not least, two charming hosts with their own story to tell.

GAMEPLAY
All teams play the first three rounds. Connect the bingo hexagons in round one, then dive head first into the movie of intrigue, featuring themes of mystery, deception, and suspense. Enjoy the dancers of intrigue between rounds, but WATCH OUT for the magician attempting to distract you with parlor tricks. Your daring mystery hosts will also try to befuddle you with useless information, and a fortune teller present may help or hinder you in your quest for the big prize. A giant wheel of fortune returns from last year's game in all its glory for a lovely categories round, and then "the big cut" is made. 12 teams will move on to the semi-final round, and get serious with our tense game show-style "Buzz-Kill" round (with a very special Bert Convy-style mystery host). Six teams will compete in our trademark final balloon round. The 2010 Tournament of Intrigue winners are crowned as they become the last team standing.
ABOUT THE VENUE
The Bossanova Ballroom serves food and drinks, so come hungry and thirsty. It is also haunted. Don't believe me? Take a look at this series of pictures, taken by a stationary camera over the course of 15 seconds. The photographer only adjusted the F-stop to allow for the different light settings. Notice the ghost hovering over the booths, slowly moving to the left. It even casts a shadow, (zoom in to get a closer look). We will be paying homage to this and other ghosts in the building during the event.

Ticket Information: An over 21 event. $28 adv./$30 at the door for teams 1-6 players. Limited number of VIP seats available. Spectator tickets: $5 adv./$8 at the door. Doors open at 5:30. OFFICIAL RULES
The Tournament of Intrigue is a 21 and over event. The maximum number of players allowed per team is six. Team name required during advance registration or at the door. Before the event begins, teams must provide complete registration information for all players on the team. This information will tell us who is playing and will be used to make any prize awards subject to the Oh-so-fine print below.
1. You can only use your brains and the brains of your teammates to answer questions. Extra-cranial information sources are prohibited.
2. REGARDING PHONES, LAPTOPS, PDAS, WALKIE TALKIES, MP3 PLAYERS, NOTEBOOKS AND ANY OTHER DEVICES OR MATERIALS (WITH THE EXCEPTION OF THE ANSWER SHEETS AND WRITING UTENSILS YOU ARE GIVEN FOR THE QUIZ) CAPABLE OF STORING OR ACCESSING INFORMATION: you cannot use them or have out during the quiz. If you are spotted with any of the above-prohibited items you may be ejected from the quiz without refund and your team may forfeit all points for the active round. ANY EJECTIONS AND FORFEITURES ARE AT THE SOLE DISCRETION OF PUB QUIZ USA LLC.
3. IF YOU NEED TO MAKE/ANSWER A PHONE CALL OR CHECK THE TIME ON YOUR PHONE, LEAVE THE QUIZ AREA. IF YOURE GOING TO TAKE A PICTURE OF SOMETHING, DO SO WITH A DEVICE THAT CANNOT BE USED FOR ANYTHING OTHER THAN TAKING PICTURES.
4. Players will be allowed to leave the quiz area during around, but once they leave, the will not be permitted to re-enter until the answer sheets have been collected for that round.
5. Players are not allowed to bring recording devices to the event with the exception of still cameras. Alcohol will be served during the event. You are solely responsible for monitoring the amount of alcohol you drink, and if you have consumed too much, you should arrange a ride home that doesn't put you in jeopardy of injuring yourself or someone else.
6. Contractors active within 4 months preceding the Tournament of Intrigue 2010 and their immediate family members are not eligible to play.
Any additional rules and gameplay tips, including instructions guiding each of the rounds, shall be furnished at the start of the tournament.
Still cameras or video cameras may be in use at the venue before, during and after the quiz. If you attend, it is possible that you will be captured on one of said devices. We may use these recordings in the future for promotional purposes. By attending the tournament, your consent is implied.

Pub Quiz USA is a trademark of Pub Quiz USA LLC, an Oregon Limited Liability Company. The Tournament of Intrigue 2010 is solely produced by Pub Quiz USA LLC, 6107 SW Murray Blvd. #193, Beaverton, OR, 97008.
Pub Quiz USA LLC reserves the right to make changes to the quiz format before and during the event. Pub Quiz USA LLC may change the terms and conditions at any time. A complete copy of the current terms and conditions is available by written request to the above address. With the exception of still image cameras, the use of any audio and video recording equipment at Tournament of Intrigue 2010 is prohibited.
Time is of the essence during the Tournament of Intrigue 2010 event and Pub Quiz USA LLC reserves the right to make final decisions regarding the accuracy of quiz answers and the allocation of points. All scoring decisions made by Pub Quiz USA LLC are final.
All prizes awarded subject to verification. By playing Tournament of Intrigue 2010, players agree to provide Pub Quiz USA LLC consent to verify all internet and telephone access service records to determine that such devices were not used in violation of rules.
The number of prizes will be awarded to players proportional to the number of players registered upon the commencement of Tournament of Intrigue 2010. Players winning prizes agree to provide any and all information necessary for Pub Quiz USA LLC to apply with federal, state, and local tax laws including but not limited to I-9 taxpayer identification.
Pub Quiz USA LLC reserves the right to eject any player upon suspicion of cheating without refund.
Players play the event at their own risk. Alcohol will be available during the quiz. Players agree that they will not consume alcohol in excess and that they are solely responsible for abiding by all local, state and federal laws regarding the purchase and consumption of alcohol.
In the unlikely event of an injury on the premises or surrounding grounds, all claims shall be directed through the liability carrier of the Bossanova Ballroom. In no event shall the liability of Pub Quiz USA LLC exceed the price a player has paid for a ticket.
