Playing Hard To Get: Rare Gems and Hidden Treasures
*Please note: SOLD OUT! However, tickets may be available at the door before showtime, in case of no-shows.
Playing Hard to Get is a collection of jazz, swing and blues, from 1933 through 1956, all out of print or virtually never heard. Wonderful for audiences who have heard the standards too often and would like to experience something different, the set includes rarities from USO-darling Jo Stafford, Hollywood production numbers featuring comedienne Betty Hutton, examples of 'Dirty Blues' from Kansas City titan Julia Lee and ballads long neglected, first recorded by the great songstress Billie Holiday.
Beautifully re-imagined for jazz trio and voice by vocalist Kathryn Allyn and pianist Frank Ponzio, and featuring noted New York City Bass player Tom Hubbard, the set is a rare treat for people who love this music.
