Us: Mid-sized event ticketing and registration company based in Seattle, WA seeking an experienced, professional, and empathetic Human Resources Manager to expand and improve the HR function for our employees. Company based in the Fremont area of Seattle, with offices in Bellevue, NYC and Edinburgh, Scotland.

You: A Human Resources leader with at least 5 to 7 years of human resources experience, a proven track-record of program and policy implementation, extensive knowledge of local, state, and federal labor laws, experience with compliance, hiring/firing, compensation and performance management best practices, strong interest in the employee experience, and timekeeping/payroll.

Job Summary:  Manage Human Resource function for small company (70+ EEs) headquartered in Seattle, WA, with offices in Bellevue, New York City, and Scotland. Specifically, oversee, implement, and/or perform general HR functions, such as hiring/terminations, employee compensation, performance evaluations, disciplinary action, benefits, employee relations issues, policies/procedures, timekeeping/payroll, internal investigations, company-sponsored events, state/federal compliance & reporting, and general record-keeping. Work with department managers and senior leadership in establishing new project priorities and in providing managerial & employee support.

Experience and Educational Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree (required)
  • PHR or SPHR certification; or degree completion in business, human resources, or related field (required)
  • Minimum of five to seven years of general hands-on human resources experience (required)
  • Strong service orientation, social perceptiveness and active listening skills
  • Objective outlook
  • Ability to relay difficult information and have uncomfortable conversations
  • Ability to communicate clearly, professionally and empathetically
  • Knowledge of HR principles and procedures for hiring, training, compensation, compliance, benefits administration, and record-keeping
  • Knowledge and understanding of local, state, and federal employment laws
  • Knowledge of the English language and ability to use proper punctuation, grammar, and spelling in written communications
  • General knowledge of computers, multi-line phone system, and office equipment
  • Strong capacity for problem solving

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and/or participate in company hiring process (interviews, pre-employment screening, offer letters, onboarding, etc)
  • Oversee and/or conduct employment terminations (exit letters, exit interviews, severance packages etc)
  • Maintain employee personnel files and documentation
  • Write and maintain job descriptions for each company position
  • Oversee annual and quarterly reporting and filing such as Washington State worker’s compensation, annual W-2 distribution, and 1094 and 1095-C’s
  • Liaison with unemployment agencies
    • Respond to benefit claims; lead unemployment hearings as necessary
  • Issue annual Employee Satisfaction Survey, compile and analyze results, and coordinate on managerial initiatives to improve low-scoring areas
  • Manage company health insurance benefits
    • Coordinate with company brokers to shop, analyze, and recommend options for company’s annual health insurance renewal (2-medical, dental, vision, life, EAP, and HSA)
    • Oversee employee insurance enrollments and terminations
    • Oversee monthly insurance invoices, payment, and coverage reconciliation
    • Plan and implement company-wide Wellness Program
  • Work with managers for performance improvement processes and in taking consistent disciplinary action
  • Work with department managers to revise and implement new employee performance review and wage evaluation process and procedures
  • Coordinate, write, and publish company policies (WFH, PTO, Time-On, pet policy etc)
  • Coordinate annual company-wide sexual harassment and discrimination trainings
  • Ensure compliance with FLSA, FMLA, ACA, ADA, general employment laws, and various city and state sick time, disability, and paid family leave laws (two countries and multiple states)
  • Assist with mediating inter-personal issues or conflict
  • Conduct investigation and reporting for employee complaints, as necessary
  • Implement and report on monthly HR statistics, analytics, and metrics such as turnover rates, payroll costs, OT hours, etc
  • Oversee and maintain electronic accounts in timekeeping and payroll systems (Humanity and ADP)
  • Oversee payroll processing procedures (U.S., U.K.) and semi-monthly and monthly payrolls
    • Process employee garnishments
  • Work with internal and external counsel regarding certain employment issues, employee handbook, policies, and training
  • Other duties as assigned


  • $80,000 – $90,000 DOE
  • 100% employer-paid medical, dental and vision (80% dependents)
  • PTO of 30 days per year
  • 5 days paid volunteer time per year
