Release Notes - V5.0
====================
1. Look & Feel
2. Customizable Public Producer Pages
3. Free Custom Merchant Accounts
4. Anti-Scalping Suite
5. Improved On-Site Tools
====================

This is our first major update in almost four years.  With an update this big, there are really too many changes to write them out in full.  As such, we're just going to cover the general changes in this set of release notes.

--------------
1. Look & Feel
--------------

Moved away from our 780px fixed width layout to a full-screen layout.  Most of the navigational controls have been changed and show greater usability in our tests.  Improved visual feedback when interacting with the system.

We're still using tables with CSS to create most aspects of our page layouts.  We experimented with pure CSS, but found far too many compatibility issues.  There's really no layout goals that we couldn't achieve faster, more easily, and with fewer cross-browser quirks with tables than we could with CSS.  So its tables for us for the foreseeable future.

-------------------------------------
2. Customizable Public Producer Pages
-------------------------------------

Our Public Producer Pages, the custom landing page that producers can use list their events, has always been customizable, but now has even more ways to control the look and feel.  Producers should now be able to blend the look of their pages on our site with the look and feel of their own website more thoroughly.

--------------------------------
3. Free Custom Merchant Accounts
--------------------------------

Until now, all ticket sales have been processed using Brown Paper Tickets' credit card processor.  With this upgrade, producers have the option of using their own credit card processor instead.  This is a feature that's been requested for a long time by event producers that need to receive funds from ticket sales before their events take place.

As of launch time, we can work with merchant accounts using Authorize.net, USAePay, or Payment Processing Inc, or PayPay's newly launched backend gateway.

Our ticket pricing stays flat with either processing method.  In the US, ticket buyers still pay a flat $1.99 for tickets $10.00 or over, and $0.99 for tickets under $10.00.  And there are no additional fees to the event producer for using our processing account or their own.  Additionally, for producers that want to use a custom merchant account but don't already have on, we've arranged a deal with Pinnacle Processing to provide merchant accounts for no set-up fee.

----------------------
4. Anti-Scalping Suite
----------------------

We've added a number of tools to help limit ticket scalping, but which still allow legitimate ticket transfers and potentially ticket reselling.  Producers are welcome to use any or all of these tools as they see fit.

- Ticket Auctions/Dynamic Ticket Pricing

This tool allows an event producer to specific a number of tickets to be sold in an auction format.  The highest bidders receive the tickets for their bid price, with 100% percent of the proceeds going to the event producer.  When tickets are sold for their market value, there ends up being no room for profiteering.

- Fan Club Discount Codes

With this tool, you can limit ticket sales to select group, such as a fan club or a mailing list.  Each member can be given a unique code that allows him or her to purchase a pre-set number of tickets for an event.

- Ticket Reselling (that you control!)

You can now allow your ticket buyers to resell their tickets directly through Brown Paper Tickets' website.  We manage the entire process, which assures both parties that their transaction is legitimate.  Additionally, the event producer can control where any profit from the sale ends up, with the ability to split the profit with the original buyer.

-------------------------
5. Improved On-Site Tools
-------------------------

Our onsite tools have been improved and expanded to allow easier onsite sales, admission controls such as barcode scanning and improved will-call management, and onsite ticket printing.  For any onsite needs that require additional equipment, such as printing or scanning, you can use our equipment or your own.  Our equipment can now be ordered through our website by following the Rent Printers/Scanners link in the User Menu.

------------------------

Be on the lookout for additional changes over the next few months.  A lot of the changes that went into our system with this 5.0 version were in preparation for upcoming tools and features.

And as always, please let us know if you run across any bugs or typos.  And if you have any tools or feature that we don't currently offer that you can't live without, we'd love to hear about them!  You can email us at support@BrownPaperTickets.com or call us at 1-800-838-3006 24 hours a day.
