Weiberfastnacht 2015 - Rheinischer Verein Von Chicago, 1890, Inc.
Come join us at the D.A.N.K Haus to celebrate the Rheinischer Verein Von Chicago 1890, Inc. Weiberfastnacht. This is the "Ladies Karneval", a night that all women rule. Men are also welcome. The tradition is said to have started in 1824, when local women in Germany first formed their own "Karneval Committee". Among other established customs, on that day, women cut off the ties of men, which are seen as a symbol of men's status. The men wear the stumps of the ties and get a Butzchen (little kiss) as compensation. This year's theme is a Speakeasy. Please yodel to gain entrance at the door and all are encouraged to wear a costume. The doors will open at 7:11p.m. A Burlesque show will start at 9:30p.m. There will be a DJ and the Ladies will be serving their signature cocktails along with beer and mixed drinks for purchase. Food for purchase will be catered by Himmel's and will include the traditional and delicious "krapfen" dessert. The location is the D.A.N.K. Haus, 5th floor, 4740 N. Western Ave. Chicago, IL 60625. Admission is a donation of $5.00. You can also reserve a table for $25.
