SWINDLE- A man with a penchant for funk-fuelled productions with a grime twist, South-Londoner Swindle has firmly cemented his place on the UK's electronic music circuit over the last three years thanks to his psychedelic approach to anything he turns his hand to. Taking time to hone his craft through working with highly-revered UK artists such as Roll Deep, Chipmunk, Professor Green and Asher D, the producer began to focus his attention on solo instrumental productions with 2009's Curriculum Vitae album showcasing his interpretation of Grime and electronic music on the whole that falls in the 140 BPM template. His work instantly grabbed the attention of Rinse FM DJ duo Elijah & Skilliam and soon after they gave his music a platform on their weekly radio show and further down the line their record label, Butterz. This led to heightened interest from the wider electronic music scene and spurned singles such as Airmiles (released via-Planet Mu) and Mood Swings (released via Butterz) which propelled him onto the DJ circuit where he has become a mainstay in clubs up and down the UK and Europe. The 25-year old prides himself on a distinct sound that is rooted in Funk from George Clinton and Parliament Funkadelic to Roy Ayers he encapsulates the spirit of the sound in his work, whether it be the bass-heavy exploits of Pineapple or the intricate melodies on recent Deep Medi heavy hitter Do The Jazz. 2012 has already seen Swindle release Ignition (which featured one half of Newham General's Footsie and Nadia Suliman) and Need To Know (co-produced with BBC Radio 1's Toddla T) that featured the Roger Troutman-esque vocals of Sam Frank. He's also teamed up with fellow Deep Medi artist Silkie on the production front with the single 'Unlimited' which finally saw the light of day on Butterz and their relationship promises to be a fruitful one if their back to back sets at seminal London club nights FWD and Butterz & Hardrive are anything to go by. Showing that he's no one-trick pony he's also been featured in Q Magazine where he featured on Amy Winehouse' Back To Black tribute compilation. To commemorate the late-singer's debut album, Swindle teamed up with songstress Baby Sol and covered 'Some Unholy War' managing to add his creative input to rework a track from one of his musical inspirations. The road ahead for Swindle looks promising. With more diverse projects on Deep Medi to come as well as holding down his radio show on Rinse FM there's no doubt that he's carrying the torch for funk and has no intention of letting it die out anytime soon.
