Roots Hoot House Concerts presents the best under the radar music event in R.I., the 7th annual Swamp Stomp outdoor music festival on Saturday, July 12 featuring:
HA HA TONKA (Springfield, MO) JP HARRIS & The Tough Choices (Nashville, TN) Girls, Guns & Glory (Boston, MA) Smith & Weeden (Providence, RI)
The event will take place once again in West Kingston, R.I. near the entrance to The Great Swamp. This is the same event which in its previous years has brought the likes of Lydia Loveless, Valerie June (1st R.I. appearance), Joe Fletcher, The Sadies, Bottle Rockets, JC Brooks & the Uptown Sound, T-Model Ford, Amy LaVere, Steve Wynn & the Miracle 3, Toy Soldiers, Patrick Sweany, Cordero, Dollar Store, and local heroes Shacklehands to the beautiful and intimate property in the wilds of West Kingston where it has been held since beginning in the summer of 2008. Grounds will open at 1 pm on the day of the event with music beginning at 2:30 pm. Pound for pound, SS7 is going to be a heavy dose of the good stuff. 100 proof, if you ask us! Leading the charge is BLOODSHOT recording artists HA HA TONKA. These dudes are both tight & mind-blowing with their electric-acoustic mix. Of the 50+ shows we saw at SXSW this past March, HHT were two of the top 3. Heck, even Anthony Bourdain holds them in high regard! JP HARRIS & THE TOUGH CHOICES are frills-free honky tonk with a capital "HT". Boston-based GIRLS GUNS & GLORY hit the Top 20 of the Americana Music Association poll this year with their latest release called Lucky and are a hard-driving band. Local heroes SMITH & WEEDEN have just released their debut album and poised for the big breakthrough beyond Ocean State lines.
Swamp Stomp is an 18-and-over event and please, no pets. It will again be a BYOB/picnic event (i.e., bring whatever you'd like to eat or drink). All we ask is that you carry out whatever you bring in.
