About the Instructor

Mike Kelly has been a beekeeper for two plus years starting with his first two hives in the spring of 2017, and in the spring of 2019 he added a third hive. Mike has successfully over-wintered two of his colonies. He has re-queened more than one of his colonies over the past two years, and has managed to harvest more than 105 pounds of honey in a single season. His apiary has been successfully inspected by Nate Webber from the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture  Bureau of Plant Industry. He has reviewed and managed his apiary to the recommended Best Management Practices for Maintaining European Honey Bee Colonies in The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
