BOTO
Bottom Of The Ocean is a new immersive performance in Bushwick, Brooklyn.

The show investigates the value, meaning, and pleasure we find in ceremony. Visitors journey through a sequence of invented rituals and into the mystery.

Audiences can experience affordably ticketed workshops of the show this summer 2021, leading to the premiere of the completed version of the show this fall.

Bottom Of The Ocean is by Andrew Hoepfner and is his third major immersive work following Whisperlodge and Houseworld.

The run-time of Bottom Of The Ocean is two hours.

Solo visitors will experience most of the show alone, while Duo visitors will remain in their pair. Our intention in separating the audience is to provide intimacy. The performance involves some interaction and certain visitors might find the exchanges emotional. Consent and safety is our priority at all times. All BOTO performers are fully vaccinated against coronavirus. Performers will not be wearing masks in order to better communicate. Each attendee has the option of wearing their face mask or experiencing the show without it.

For the foreseeable future, BOTO will now be following this vaccination screening practice for every one of our visitors. All BOTO attendees must present proof of vaccination at the venue in order to enter the show. We accept these 4 forms of proof: A physical copy, a smartphone image, the NYS Excelsior Pass, or the NYC Covid Safe App. The name on the vax record will be matched with a drivers license, state ID, or passport.

A small amount of food and drink is served during the show. Our food items are vegan, gluten-free, and nut-free. Tea tree oil is used, wax candles and incense are burned in the show, and some parts of the show feature high quantities of fog. Please contact us if you have any dietary needs or allergies that we can accommodate.

Entry into the show is via stairs, and there is also some stair traversal during the show. We regret that at this time, our space does not offer wheelchair access. Weve spent the last 2 years restoring this basement from the 1800s, but we are not yet at the point where we can afford to build ramps or elevators.

Tickets are not refundable. All sales are final.

Accessibility

Guests will use stairs to enter the show and during the show. We regret that at this time, our space does not offer wheelchair access. Weve spent the last year restoring this basement from the 1800s, but we are not yet at the point where we can afford to build ramps or elevators. With your support of BOTO, our budget will get there. Thank you for your patience.
