Stand Up Comedy - Level 1

Each class will start with a short lesson and question session. Then each student will have 5 minutes of stage time followed by 5 minutes of notes from RPJ, as well as written notes from fellow students. Everyone learns from each other which creates the comedy multiplier effect.

Students will learn and practice how to write jokes and tell jokes in a fun, creative, collaborative environment.

Level 1 concepts will focus on joke writing, stage presence & developing your voice.

What you get when you sign up:

1) 5 weeks of In class instruction:
Thursdays 6p -8p January 2nd, 9th, 16th, 23rd & 30th

2) Jump the line at my Thursday night open mic:
improvMANIA host a weekly open mic Thursdays from 8p -11p. Comics taking a stand up class get to go up before the rest of the yahoos.

3) Free admission to any of improvmania's 6 weekly shows.
WHAT?!? Yep! Every Friday and Saturday night students will receive free admission to the 7pm improv, 9pm improv & 10pm stand up

4) The class concludes with a Saturday night showcase performance for friends & family.
The February 1st, Saturday Night, Stand up comedy show at improvMANA will showcase the students.

Classes are facilitated by
Ryan Paul Johnson.

Ryan is a stand up comedian, walking quadriplegic and inspiring speaker. He runs 3 weekly stand up comedy shows and teaches classes at ImprovMania Comedy Club in Chandler.

Ryan has a masters degree in communication (so you know the class is worth it!)

Students will leave each class feeling inspired to take on the stage.
