Which side are you on? That's the question that every single person in Connecticut had to answer in 1775, as the thirteen colonies began a rebellion against British rule. Loyalty was not only a matter of words or opinion. For soldiers and civilians alike, loyalty could mean loss of fortune, of friends, and even of life.
In this behind-the-scenes tour of our museum, you'll see objects that tell the stories of Connecticans who risked and sacrificed to support their chosen side during this tumultuous jarring time of civil war. Some of the stories, like Nathan Hale's, are well known; others, like that of teenager Prudence Punderson, may be new to you.
Tours last approximately 1 hour and are appropriate for ages 10 and up. Space is limited, and pre-registration is required. Questions? Call (860) 236-5621 x289 or email natalie_belanger@chs.org. $10 for CHS members, $15 for non-members.
