Death of a Salesman
For seventy years, Death of a Salesman has interrogated ideals of success through Willy Loman and his family. Despite their devotion and their striving, the elusive promises of the American dream slip away from the Lomans as they make their way in a world where love and friendship may be nothing more than the means to make a dollar.
Arthur Millers still-startling drama of happiness, masculinity, and capitalism endures in a new production from Short Order Theatre Company.
Arthur Miller (1915-2005) was born in New York City and studied at the University of Michigan. His plays include ALL MY SONS, DEATH OF A SALESMAN, THE CRUCIBLE, A VIEW FROM THE BRIDGE, and INCIDENT AT VICHY. He twice won the New York Drama Critics Circle Award, received two Emmy awards and three Tony Awards for his plays, as well as a Tony Award for Lifetime Achievement. He was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for DEATH OF A SALESMAN.
