Puerto Rico Rising Fundraiser
The 4th Annual San Diego City College Social Justice and Education Conference is hosting a fundraiser to support the Maria Fund (mariafund.org). Our theme for the conference is "Beyond Borders: Dismantling Barriers, Building Bridges" and we have invited award-winning and highly acclaimed Puerto Rican poet Denice Frohman as one of our keynote speakers. Alongside Denice, we have also invited Puerto Rican scholars and Bomba artists Jade Power Sotomayor and Jose Fusté for a panel addressing the crisis in Puerto Rico. In collaboration with these artists and scholars, our March 22 closing event "Puerto Rico Rising" will be a fundraiser performance with all proceeds going to The Maria Fund.
