Old time radio show: Suspense: "The Hitch-Hiker" and Ray Bradbury's "Zero Hour"
The Hitch-hiker by Louise Fletcher (for Orson Welles)   The 1955 Suspense episode, Zero Hour, written by Ray Bradbury, adapted from his short story in his collection called The Illustrated Man.

With live sound effects and music performed by the actors!

Led by a new playmate named "Drill," children under ten are playing a game called "Invasion." 7-year-old Mink Morris explains to her mother that Drill has promised that there will be no more baths, and that kids can stay up until 10pm! Mink tells her mom, "When the invasion comes, we'll have to get rid of you and Daddy. But I'll be sure it won't hurt very much." Her mother laughs and sends her off to play. Mrs. Morris then receives a phone call from a friend in New Jersey, whose kids are also playing Invasion with their friend, Drill, and so are their cousins in Boston and New York. They're gearing up for "zero hour," which is that day at 5pm. Mr. Morris comes home from work at 5, when suddenly .
The Hitch-hiker originally aired on The Orson Welles Show in 1941, but was so popular, Welles performed it two more times in 1942, for Suspense and for The Philip Morris Playhouse, and once more in 1946, for The Mercury Summer Theatre on the Air.  Rod Serling also adapted it for his TV show, The Twilight Zone. Presented at the Goad with live sound effects and music performed by the actors!
Starting his cross-country drive from New York on a rainy morning, Ronald Adams sees a man on the Brooklyn Bridge, apparently wanting a lift. Adams keeps seeing the hitch-hiking man at various points along his journey, even though there is no logical way the man could always be ahead of him. Adams picks up a girl who is hitch-hiking, but she is spooked by his almost running the car off the road in an attempt to hit the mysterious man, whom she does not see. The girl leaves him alone in Texas. Desperate for some sleep, Adams pulls off the road. Then he hears the hitch-hiker's "halloo" and sees the man approaching.
