POSTPONED ~ CHERYL WHEELER & KENNY WHITE: Singer-songwriters Extraordaire
If your idea of a folk singer-songwriter concert is a bunch of people clapping politely after songs, and then sitting quietly while the performer says things like This next next song is about..., well youre have seen a Cheryl Wheeler concert before!

Cheryls concerts are more like what you would find at a comedy club than expect to find at a folk music concert. She can tell a story that has you rolling in the aisles, and then sing a song that leaves you wiping tears from your eyes. She will talk about some serious concert event, and then sing a song that will have you howling with laughter. Her entire concert is an emotional roller coaster...and you will love every minute!

KENNY WHITE: Astonished audiences often ask KENNY WHITE after a live performance, How come Ive never heard of you? when in fact, the pianist, singer/songwriter, producer and arranger has been very well known in the NYC recording scene for decades.  He comes to the world of the touring singer-songwriter following a long and successful musical journey.  LONG LIST OF PRIORS, his aptly named new album, is the latest collection of original songs: indelible snapshots of the human condition, from heart-wrenching to hilarious and observed with the precision of a diamond cutter.  As on his past recordings, Kenny Whites work in the studio enabled him to assemble a whos who of musicians and guest artists, including David Crosby, Peter Wolf, Larry Campbell, Amy Helm and Catherine Russell, along with his regular band featuring the dexterous Duke Levine on guitar, shape-shifting Shawn Pelton (Saturday Night Live) on drums, and the masterful Marty Ballou on bass.  Now add the horns, strings, and other surprising arrangements, and LONG LIST OF PRIORS is a refreshingly original and multi-layered singer-songwriter recording.

He still, from time to time, tours with Judy Collins throughout North America and performs the duet Veterans Day on her recent BOHEMIAN CD.  He often shares a stage with his good friend Cheryl Wheeler, appearing on her live recording, GREETINGS, which he also produced. And though he has all but given up his days as a sideman, in 2014, he accepted an offer by none other than Tom Jones to play in his soul quartet for a sold-out, three week US tour.

ABOUT DEERTREES THEATRE

In 1936 a stunning opera house was built on the site of an old deer run in the forest above the friendly village of Harrison, Maine, Deertrees Theatre. This summer is our 84th season.

The theatre was the vision of opera singer Enrica Clay-Dillon. It was designed by Harrison G. Wiseman, a famous theatre architect of the day who was instructed to create the most acoustically and technically perfect theatre possible.

Constructed of rose hemlock, in the Adirondack Style, with hand-carved fixtures and near perfect acoustics, the 300 seat theatre was considered as fine as any on Broadway!

Now listed on the National Registry of Historic Places, Deertrees is operated as a non-profit organization and presents a diverse schedule of performances and events, both musical and theatrical, every summer.
