SOLD OUT - Tardeada VIII - Jóvenes y nuestras fiestas
"Jóvenes y nuestras fiestas" is our matinee dance concert featuring youth ensemble Los Lupeños Juvenil with special guests DíaPa'Son.

As of March 20th we are SOLD OUT!  Please follow us on Facebook to find out about our upcoming community event, ¡Gracias! on May 5, 2019 at the Mexican Heritage Plaza.

Los Lupeños Juvenil was formalized in July, 2015 after existing under our Academy for many sessions.  Dancers in this company range from 10 to 15 years old.  They have a unique opportunity to explore Mexican folk dance in a professional environment with special mentoring that prepares them to enter the main Performing Company someday. In the past two years, Los Lupeños Juvenil have collaborated in special productions by sjDANCEco and by The New Ballet (of San José).  Los Lupeños Juvenil is directed by Samuel Cortez.

DíaPa'Son is an ensemble of musicians and dancers who specialize in Mexican folk music and dance, particularly the son jarocho, in the interest of promoting and preserving the cultural treasures of Mexican folkloric traditions. Under the artistic direction of María de la Rosa, DíaPa'Son artists are active in the rich sonero community of the Bay Area and have collectively and individually studied the son art form with internationally renowned master artists of son jarocho. DíaPa'Son often enjoys the privilege of having master artists from Mexico perform in its programs. Each experience of DíaPa'Son is a polyrhythmic delight of lyric and melodic improvisation. Voices accompanied by primarily stringed and percussive handcrafted instruments of natural materials create a dynamic, rustic sound that tells ancient and modern tales of love, courtship, happiness and the beauties of life as well as injustice, loss, and death. Hundreds of years old, the son jarocho is a living, contemporary art form that continues to evolve with time and under the influences of trans-cultural exchange and inter-generational dialogue

The Cashion Cultural Legacy is committed to sustaining the preservation, presentation, and education of Mexican folk culture through dance.  It pursues this mission by operating a professional Mexican folk dance company (Los Lupeños de San José), a youth dance ensemble (Los Lupeños Juvenil) offering accessible classes to the community (Los Lupeños Academy), operating an annual Artist Exchange of dancers, directors, and choreographers between California and México, and researching and documenting the art form.

The Cashion Cultural Legacy's programming, including this concert, is supported by many individuals, foundations, and corporations.  We would especially like to thank recent contributions from:  Silicon Valley Creates, the California Arts Council, the Center for Cultural Innovation, and Adobe Systems.
We are also indebted to our friends and partners at the School of Arts and Culture @MHP.
