Cooking for A Classic is a unique philanthropic event, featuring the talents of 16 local and regional chefs competing to win a beautifully restored classic car over the course of Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday evenings in February and March of 2017. Each chef is chosen through an application process, and tasked with creating a three-course tasting menu with a signature cocktail, and wine and beer pairings. The chefs compete in pairs, with guests of each event voting for their favorite menu of the evening, and the winner advancing to the next round. At the end of four tournament or "sweet sixteen" rounds, the chosen champion receives a 1969 restored Corvette Stingray!
100% of the proceeds of this event go in support of Lucy Daniels Center, a therapeutic education setting and mental health treatment facility for children of preschool through elementary school age. LDC serves more than 700 children and their families each year. Approximately 70% of these families pay less than actual costs, and one in six receives services for free, in part as a result of financial support from events like this.
Collaboration among hospitality vendors, chefs, guests and other supporters makes this distinctive event a success!
