The Night Of The Iguana

Rev. T. Lawrence Shannon, an ex-minister in exile in 1940s Mexico, survives as a guide for a second-rate tour company. When a client accuses him of improper advances toward a young girl on the tour, Shannon escapes to a run-down hotel owned by an old friend Maxine Faulk. Maxine's Costa Verde Hotel serves as a retreat for Shannon, as he soon experiences an emotional breakdown.

Hannah Jelkes is a down-on-her-luck itinerant artist who, along with her sickly grandfather, runs to the Costa Verde in a desperate attempt to find a place to stay for the night. An unlikely friendship forms between Shannon and Hannah that evening, where on that fateful night, ruin and redemption meet.

THE NIGHT OF THE IGUANA is a rarely produced and highly regarded work by Tennessee Williams. As is true of all Dukesbay shows, this production features a multiracial cast. Williams might not have originally imagined his play in this way, but actors from various backgrounds bring home the universality of loneliness, redemption and the need for honest human contact.

Tennessee Williams' THE NIGHT OF THE IGUANA features the talents of a multi-racial cast, who include Chevi Chung, Maggie Knott, Stephanie Leeper, Robert Osborn, Ellen Peters, Mark Peterson, Jeffery Weaver and Malcolm J. West.

THE NIGHT OF THE IGUANA runs from Oct. 30 - Nov. 15.
