Join your poler friends this January 9-10, 2016 for the inaugural Minnesota Regional Pole Competitions! Step on the stage at the gorgeous Maplewood Performing Arts Theater.
Located inside the Maplewood Community Center, this place has it all! A waterpark and two pools, large fitness area, a running track, large reception rooms, and a performing arts theater!
The large reception rooms will house the pole star workshops and the vending area with free workshops, a live feed of the event, and catering.
Competitors receive a FREE All Access Pass (All Access Pass gets you into the theater, workshops, vending and catering. If you would like community center access you pay $8.50 for a day pass to the center).
***If you are a competitor and also volunteering, you can use your discount or free pass for a guest (a 2-hour shift gets you off, a 4-hour shift gets you a FREE pass).
Regular Registration is $75 (Sept thru Nov) Late Registration $85 (Dec). Your contribution goes toward paying for the venue, pole star workshops, catering, posters, promos, etc. We appreciate you participating and helping us grow our pole community! PPA hopes to remove the stigma that surrounds our sport and "Elevate the Performing Arts to New Extremes!"
>>>There are four levels to choose from: (Decision on levels will be finalized in December. Competitors in amateur levels may also choose a category for judging, also to be finalized in December.)
NOVICE: Beginners. Dance, floor work, spins, poses. No inversions, keep hips below shoulder height while all of body is on the pole.
INTERMEDIATE: Dance, floor work, spins, poses, combos. Inverting from the floor and using three points of contact while inverted on the pole
ADVANCED: Dance, floor work, spins, poses, combos. Floor and aerial inverting. Keeping three points of contact while inverted on the pole
~Winners of amateur levels receive prizes, medals, and move on to showcase at the MN Polestar Competitions and Pole and Performing Art Convention April 2, 2016
Professional Competition Level:
ELITE: Articulates a mastery of dance, and athleticism. No restrictions with moves.
~Winners of the ELITE level move on to compete for the MN Pole Star title at the Pole and Performing Art Convention, April 2, 2016 (this event is working toward being a national qualifier)
