The Cinema Cabaret: 40s and 50s Fusion Variety Show at Market Street Gainesville

The Cinema Cabaret is a truly eclectic and groundbreaking live show centered around performers who sing, dance, and puppeteer with a collection of classic cartoons and movie clips playing behind them. Saturday August 1, at the gorgeous Market Street Gainesville. Only $7; order in advance and get table seating. The bar will be open all afternoon with show seating beginning at 8:30 PM. Show at 9 PM.

In May we brought you the 1920s and 30s Cinema Cabaret. We are now traveling to the era of romance, noir, and magic of the mid-20th century, the 1940s and 50s: think big band and swing, a new era of monster films and romantic comedies, and Looney Tunes! Shudder at the Creature from the Black Lagoon, swoon at Jack Lemmon's smile, gaze upon Ingrid Bergman, cry at Classic Disney, and be transported to a Forbidden Planet.

Featuring the beautiful burlesquers Stella O'Hare, Sally B. Dash, Jenny Castle, and Phoenix Midnight, the cinematic cosplayer Angela Knox, passionate performance artist and poet Charles Ely, sultry singer Carissa Lawrence of the Swamp Cats, the unique ukuleleist and puppet whisperer Henrietta Henhouse, and powerhouse puppeteer Dan Dan the Puppet Man!

DreamQuilt (a spinoff of emerging educational agency CerridwenWorks) has been producing innovative and alternative shows for independent artists since 2013. Our goal is to blur lines between genres and styles while providing a safe, supportive space for entertainers to grow.
