High School Youth Media Advocacy Project Information Exchange
9th and 10th graders from Wilkinsburg, Pittsburgh Brashear and Pittsburgh Obama will present ideas for school and community improvement based on their engagement in the Youth Media Advocacy Program (YMAP). Now in its 6th year, YMAP brings together high school students, college undergraduates, skilled facilitators, media professionals and other experts to support high school students as they identify and advocate for change.
Held at the St. Agnes Center at Carlow University, this gathering will give the students the opportunity to workshop their ideas for creating change in their schools and communities. Pittsburgh area professionals and community leaders will attend to provide feedback and, when possible, offer support to help students achieve their goals.
Please join us to offer these hard-working students constructive feedback, connections and support to move their ideas forward.
Schedule:
8:30-9:00 a.m. - Student buses arrive, poster set up, light refreshments
9:00-9:30 a.m. - Welcome and opening session
9:30-11:00 a.m. - Poster session
11:00-noon - Lunch and networking
12:00-12:15 p.m. - Wrap-ups/Bus departures
