The Story of All Hallows Eve: American Folk traditions, Literary Ghosts and Wonderful Objects with Deborah Dwyer
Collector Deborah Dywerpresents the forgotten traditions linked to Halloween, a story she pieced together after amassing an incredible array of antique and vintage Halloween artifacts over the past 30 years. From romantic prophecy to the predictive powers of cabbages or pumpkins, Dwyer will walk us through the rituals and other folk practices All Hallows Eve used to call for. Shell also discuss the most important traditions of them all, the art of telling ghost stories, informed by some of her favorite example drawn from anglo-saxon literature.

Debora Dwyer has a BA in English Literature and a MA and Anglo- Irish Literature. She is a jurist doctor and holds a certificate from the Folk Art Institute. Dwyer has taught a variety of courses including Folk Art of the Latin World and Folk Art of the South West and has written extensively on the topic of folk art history and collecting for publications such as Peacework Magazine, Country Living Magazine or The Maine Antiques Digest.
