Westchester Choral Society - 75th Anniversary Concert - Carmina Burana
The Westchester Choral Society is the longest continuously running chorus in Westchester (http://westchesterchoralsociety.org). This year the chorus is celebrating its 75th year with a special concert on May 13th to be held at the White Plains Presbyterian Church at 4PM. We will be performing Orff's Carmina Burana, a spectacular extravaganza, which is one of the most popular pieces in the classical music repertoire. Surprisingly, it was written in the 20th century, and concert goers have been thrilled to hear both the traditional interpretations of this composition, as well as the intense versions created and performed by contemporary musicians, including the death metal group Therion and rappers Nas and Puff Daddy. Also, the concert will also include a series of Hungarian and Slovak folk songs composed by Bela Bartok. Ticket purchasers will be invited to a special reception after the concert.
