Relay Dance Collective presents PASSAGE
*Tickets will also be available at the door*

This spring, Relay Dance Collective will present an evening of dance called "Passage" in Yaw Theater -- a new beacon for contemporary dance in Seattle's Georgetown neighborhood. Now in its fifth year, the celebrated Seattle-based-troupe brings both emerging and established choreographers to the stage with the focus on creating "a broad appetite for dance with performances that co-workers and families feel welcome attending" (SeattleDances).

Choreographers featured in "Passage" include:
- Brenna Monroe-Cook, Jose Limón Limon Dance Company
- Imana Gunawan, Au Collective
- Sara Jinks, Pat Graney Dance Company
- Mark J. Kane, formerly of Spectrum Dance Theater
- Anna Krupp, choreographer for Velocity Dance Center's The Bridge Project
- Amy Johnson, AJnC Dance Theater
- Holly Logan, Intrepidus Dance
- Austin Sexton, Relay Co-Artistic Director

One of the works featured in the evening is a revival of Amy Johnson's "Incase Anyone Comes Searching," which premiered as part of the choreographer's BFA thesis at Cornish College of the Arts in 2011. Set to Klezmer music, "Incase" reflects upon loneliness, community, and homesickness.

"Filled with spunk, sass, grace, and knock-out musicality, 'Incase' is a perfect fit for the dancers of Relay who already embody those same characteristics as movers," Johnson said

Relay will also perform a piece first set on Spectrum Dance Theater called "Of Passion You Have Plenty" by Mark J. Kane, as well as a solo called "Shrinking Women" that includes a monologue by poet Lily Myers. "Shrinking Women" is choreographed by Holly Logan, with whom Relay is thrilled to be working with as part of a 2017 choreographer exchange. Resident Choreographer/Co-Artistic Director Austin Sexton will later set a work on Logan's company, Intrepidus Dance, for their June performance at Yaw Theater.

Guest artists featured in "Passage" include Lauren Linder (Petra Zankis 365  A Solo); Randy Ford (Au Collective: House of Dinah); and Hendri Walujo (Jessica Jobaris & General Magic).

The performance stars the dancers of Relay Dance Collective: Jerene Aldinger, Hailey Burt, Alex Cann, Gabrielle Nomura Gainor, Amber Jackson, Stella Kutz, Christopher Engelbrecht, Katherine Freeman, Tara McFarland, Hannah Rae, Ayako Shapiro, Elizabeth Sugawara, Austin Sexton, Diadra Smith, Fiona Vigdor, Constanze Villines, and Tess Wendel.

Ticket sales online end 12 hours before show starts but we will be selling tickets at the door! At the door tickets are $20! Doors open a half an hour before the show.
