PULCINELLA VENDICATO: A Baroque Marionette Opera from Naples
Northwest Puppet Center Seattle, WA
After years of searching for this elusive 18th century opera buffa, "Pulcinella Vendicato" is now being staged for the first time ever on this continent! Giovanni Paisiello, the greatest composer of Napoli, created this comical work providing universal pleasure to the audiences at Carnival! How could audiences not be pleased with such a splendid performance? Now is your chance to enjoy this baroque opera featuring enchanted genies, misguided lovers, wild antics at the fish market and a steamy scene atop Mount Vesuvius!
Carter Family retains the charm and crafts of 18th century Italy with a hand-carved cast of marionettes, beautiful stage decor created with dry pigment paints and a dose of crude humor for the cast of commedia characters lead by the infamous Pulcinella! Music Director Margriet Tindemans leads the ensemble of top-notch baroque musicians and singers.
