The name Artivist is a combination of "artist" plus "activist." The mission of the nonprofit organization is to raise awareness for international human rights, children advocacy, environmental preservation, social justice and human treatment of animals through the universal medium of movies. Since its inception in 2003, Artivist has screened more than 400 films representing more than 60 countries, and produced film events in Los Angeles, New York, London, Tokyo and Rio de Janeiro that have reached more than 35 million people.
