Welcome to the 21st edition of the Film Arts Festival of Independent Cinema! For the past 2 decades, the Festival has previewed some of the most iconoclastic, groundbreaking work shown anywhere. Films screened at the Film Arts Festival often go on to take top honors at festivals around the globe. The 21st Film Arts Festival of Independent Cinema runs November 3-9 at the Kanbar Hall and the Roxie Cinema in San Francisco, at the Parkway in Oakland, and at the Rafael Film Center in San Rafael. The festival kicks off with a special sneak preview of San Francisco filmmakers Dan Geller and Dayna Goldfine's BALLETS RUSSES (SOLD OUT), their gorgeous new film about the legendary Russian dance troupe that transformed 20th century ballet. The filmmakers and other special guests will be at the opening night gala at the beautiful Kanbar Theater (in the Jewish Community Center). The festival is presented by the Film Arts Foundation who's mission is to support the success of independent film and video makers; we are a catalyst and advocate for the diverse voices of the independent film community both on the West Coast and nationally.
