Celebrating its 26th season, the Carolyn Dorfman Dance Company is a uniquely talented, contemporary dance ensemble highly acclaimed for its artistic excellence and range as well as its extraordinary ability to communicate to audiences about dance and the creative process. CDDC appears at major theaters, dance festivals, universities and schools regionally, nationally and internationally and is lauded for its exceptional arts education and professional development programming.
Led by the dynamic artistic vision of company founder and Artistic Director, Carolyn Dorfman, the company embodies her commitment to human experience, interactions, perceptions and truths. With movement as a metaphor, her high energy and technically demanding repertory takes audiences on intellectual and emotional journeys at every performance, and sparks instinctual recognition. The Company, hailed for its elegance and power and technical ability, versatility and inner fire, presents new and repertory works by Ms. Dorfman and nationally known choreographers and regularly commissions original scores and artistic collaborations.
With cohesive artistic and educational programming, the Company of superb dancers and articulate teachers works on and off stage to bring contemporary dance to its audiences. In concert, with full performances of Company premieres and repertory works, CDDC provides audiences with an array of opportunities to enhance their exposure to its artistry and creative processes. Those opportunities include pre- and post-performance discussions, informal performances, master classes, open rehearsals, student matinee performances and workshops, choreographic commissions, interactive family performances and community outreach programming
