As Washington celebrated its 15th anniversary in 1951, the students and teachers realized that much more could be accomplished with alumni involvement. At the request of Principal O.I. Schmaelzle, English teacher Edith Garin founded the George Washington High School Alumni Association that year. Roland Bianchi, Class of Spring 1948, was elected as its first President. Our current President is John Rothmann, Fall 1966.
Our mission is:
1. To promote and maintain a high standard of excellence in education.
2. To assist worthy graduates by granting awards.
3. To encourage continuing contact among George Washington High School alumni.
4. To select exceptionally distinguished alumni for induction into the Hall of Merit.
5. To develop the financial resources necessary for the Association to sustain its programs.
6. To play a constructive role in the larger community within which George Washington High School, its students, teachers, and alumni are significant participants.
To accomplish these goals, we need the help of all alumni and friends of GWHS. Become a member, contribute to your favorite fund, volunteer for events! See our website for more information.
