Founded in 2009, Horse Head Theatre Co. is a 501 (c) 3 nonprofit theatre collective. Horse Head Theatre Company's mission is to re-energize Houston audiences and artists with theatrically designed experiences using local talent and non-traditional methods. Horse Head is committed to producing regional and world premieres using Houston talent. The company consists of a group of trained theater professionals who regularly work all over Houston for organizations such as Stages Repertory Theatre, Main Street Theatre, the Alley Theatre, Catastrophic Theatre, Stark Naked Theater, Mildred's Umbrella Theatre, The Landing Theatre, Houston Shakespeare Festival, and San Jacinto College, among many others.
Horse Head is known for their use of found spaces, producing plays and theatrical events outside of traditional theatre spaces. Past venues include: Happy Fatz, Bar Boheme, War'Hous Visual Studios, Frenetic Theatre, Kryptonite, Brewery Tap, PJ's Sports Bar, Obsidian Art Space and The Silo.
Horse Head has been described as one of Houston's newest and boldest theatre companies: our production first-ever production, Red Light Winter, was included in the Houston Chronicle's "Best of 2009" as one of the most memorable plays of the year. In 2014, the world premiere of Spaghetti Code by Abby Koenig was voted "Best New Play or Musical" in Houston by BroadwayWorld! Thank you, Houston!
