Brown Paper Tickets To Create 100,000 "Café Racer Artist" Tickets
$25,000 Fundraiser to Feature Artwork From Café Racer Community
July 19, 2012 (Seattle) Brown Paper Tickets will create 100,000 limited-edition "Cafe Racer Artist" tickets that allow ticket-buyers to give a 25 cent donation to a fund dedicated to the families of the victims of the shootings, to the lone survivor and to Cafe Racer. The program has the potential to collect $25,000, which would more than double the amount already contributed by the community to Victims of the Cafe Racer Shooting Memorial Fund.
"The generosity of this gesture by Brown Paper Tickets is inspiring, and you will also have a really cool ticket," said Nancy Neyhart, organizer of the Victims of the Café Racer Shooting Memorial Fund. "The community spirit of giving has really helped with the healing process."
Brown Paper Tickets is already a resource for supporting the city's nonprofit and fundraising events, with more than 50% of the events in Seattle on the site being held by nonprofit organizations or in support of charitable causes. Nonprofits and charities often choose Brown Paper Tickets because it is a free and easy way to ticket their fundraisers, where the most money possible can go directly to their cause; the company also makes a donation of its own profits to charity with every ticket sold.
"We just think it's the right thing to do," said William S. Jordan, President, CTO and Founder of Brown Paper Tickets. "Everyone in our company was touched in some way by this tragedy. We wanted to find a way to make it easy for people who care to donate, and for those who produce events to invite their guests to donate a nominal amount. This should also bring some good exposure to local artists."
The limited edition tickets will feature original work from artists who are a part of the Café Racer community, which re-opens tomorrow. Tickets should be available for event producers to offer for any event they host through Brown Paper Tickets in about 8 weeks.
