Drop Beats Not Bombs!
Drop Beats Not Bombs is a benefit Dub music event for Western States Legal Foundation (WSLF), a nonprofit organization working for peace and justice in a nuclear free world. Featuring Dub artists Professor Shehab, Shlump, Selby and other guests. Jackie Cabasso, WSLF director and internationally recognized leading voice for nuclear abolition, will also speak about the current state of nuclear weapons in the world. Local activist and author Shepard Bliss with share poetry. November 22, 7-12pm, Arlene Francis Center, 99 Sixth St, Santa Rosa. Co-sponsored by the Peace and Justice Center of Sonoma County. All age event. Beer and wine for sale with ID.

Western States Legal Foundation is an Oakland-based non-profit, public interest organization founded in 1982, working to abolish nuclear weapons as an essential step in making possible a more secure, just, and environmentally sustainable world. Grounded in commitments to nonviolence and international law, WSLF provides information, analysis and advocacy that is professional in quality and rooted in the values of the social movements we serve. In its work with local, national and international networks and coalitions, WSLF has increasingly sought to link nuclear disarmament with global and domestic issues of peace, justice and sustainability. Jackie Cabasso has been Executive Director of Western States Legal Foundation since 1984. An internationally recognized leading voice for nuclear abolition, she has been involved in nuclear disarmament, peace and environmental advocacy at the local, national and international levels for over 30 years. She was a "founding mother" of the Abolition 2000 Global Network to Eliminate Nuclear Weapons in 1995. Since 2007, she has served as North American Coordinator for Mayors for Peace. She also serves as National Co-convener for United for Peace and Justice and convenes its Nuclear Disarmament & Redefining Security working group. She received the International Peace Bureau's 2008 Sean MacBride Peace Award. Professor Shehab (aka Sassan Gari) an Iranian-American journalist, musician and the founding father of the Middle Eastern Dub movement.
