Renegade Stringband: A Benefit for Open Road Learning Community for Teens
Kick up your heels before you slam down the turkey and stuffing! We are so excited to welcome Renegade Stringband back to the Alberta Street Pub for a show benefitting Open Road. Renegade Stringband plays hard driving bluegrass music on stages and in the streets. Their repertoire runs the gamut from original ballads to covers of songs by the Black Keys, Woody Guthrie, Tom Waits, and Ella Fitzgerald. From their base in Portland, the band has been touring the west coast since 2010. In summer of 2012 they made their first pilgrimage to the birthplace of bluegrass, delighting audiences at the ROMP Festival in Owensboro, Kentucky.
Renegade Stringband's reverence for tradition anchors their musical innovations, allowing them to join with audiences in a stomping and hollering celebration.
In 2012 they released their EP, One Thing After Another. Live at the Alberta Street Pub (where you'll see them in one of their favorite spots in town to play) followed in 2013, and their first LP of almost all originals, The Worst Horse, was released earlier this year.
This concert will benefit Open Road Learning Community for Teens, a nonprofit that helps 11-18 year-olds leave school to direct their own learning according to their unique talents, interests, and passions. Find out more at http://openroadteens.org. We are so grateful to once again welcome Renegade Stringband to the Open Road family!
This is a 21+ event.
