The Inner GPS In The Brain
An ADD Resources Speaker Series Presentation:
The Inner GPS In the Brain: Behavioral and Neural Mechanisms Underlying Individual Variability in Spatial Orientation
Featuring Giuseppe Iaria, PhD Director, NeuroLab
Dr. Giuseppe Iaria is a leading expert on the inner GPS in the brain that enables us to navigate our surroundings. The ability to orient within the environment requires numerous cognitive skills. Dr. Iaria's work includes assessing orientation skills in children affected by major depression, studying how aging relates to the functional decline of topographical orientation skills, creating an online assessment of the human ability to orient and behavioral studies of children to assess the ability to form and use cognitive maps.
Dr. Iaria's work also includes research on face processing and recognition to develop a digital device that will help patients to recognize familiar faces. His work on the emotional brain focuses on the affect of sleep deprivation on human empathy.
